2 class mains and a jib
Looking to sell or trade. Looking for a #4 jib, a code 0 spinnaker, a 120 SM spinnaker. Both mains are standard 2-reef with slugs. Both are in good shape. Could be good for delivery or club racing. Re: WANTED: Storm Sails and Delivery Main
Hi Dan, I have 2 mains I am looking to sell. Both are in good shape for their age. The boat name before I bought it was WISC, based in Chester Nova Scotia. Both standard 2-reef racing mains, with plastic slugs (don’t know what an Antal looks like). Fine delivery mains or racing club races to save t ...

Re: Cheap Whisker Pole Setup?
What’s the right length of the pole for the Genoa? Thinking of doing same thing for windy double handed races here in SF Bay

J-109 Gel Coat kit for deck dings?
Is there a go to kit for repairing deck dings that reasonably matches the color for the J-109? Or an alternative?

Cross sheeting the jib
Looking for best practice for cross sheeting the jib sheets for racing, as we do on J-105s. On the 109 the sheet coming out of the turning block ribs on the cockpit coaming. Wondering if there's a standard wedge for the turning block to raise it up, or maybe use a double block, or just put a ...

Looking for gently used racing sails to buy
Now that we are end of season maybe there's a few of you that want to unload J-109 racing sails. I'm looking for main, spinnaker (108 SM and/or 120 SM) and class jib, as well as a genoa and possibly a code zero. All for racing in SF Bay. Ideally less than 3-4 years old and/or really good condition ...

Re: Cabin top halyard tail bags
HI Dan the Ronstan Medium Rope Bags will fit in the space on the cabin top parallel to the hatch and forward of the winch and rope clutches. There's another J109 in The Bay Area that has those, and on quite a few J-105s have them installed there. I have not installed yet. I did put three of them in ...

Re: Charter J-109 available California
Wow that's generous. J105s can fetch many $000s to charter for a major regatta here, not including all those other costs.

Charter J-109 available California
I'm curious if chartering J-109s for event is as common as it is in the J-105 and other J-boat fleets. I am considering making my J-109 based in San Francisco available for charter. It's a 2007 and in process of getting set up for go-fast. Bring your sails or let's negotiate new sails vs charter ...

Hey Dan, can you share pics of what you finally came up with for your inhauler set-up? I am starting from scratch. Thanks, Dan

Looking for inhauler set ups
Hey Forum,
Looking for pics and advice on best jib sheet in-hauler set up. Location is SF Bay, so often windier conditions. My new to me 2007 J-109 did not have it.

Advice on pole and rigging for jib and/or asym spin
Hey Forum, questions on poling out jib and asym spinnaker 1. What's the right length for a pole for a standard class jib for sailing wing on wing? 2. Where to put a bail or track on the mast - inches from deck for example. 3. Anyone use a pole with asym spinnaker? What length is the pole and where ...

Re: Backstay too long?
Thanks Mvallus, the question now is whether there is too much rake, causing the backstay to appear to be too long. Is your rake measurement in line with the Quantum or North tuning guides? Have you done a rake measurement using the main halyard hanging down with a weight?

Trying to measure mast rake - no black band
I'm trying to measure mast rake on the 109 I recently acquired. North tuning guide says: "Rake: Swing Arc Use jib halyard pulled down to top of black band on mast, then swing forward to mark headstay. Measure distance from mark on headstay to deck at stem." Sounds good but my mast was painted so ...

Backstay too long?
I am a new owner of a 2007 J-109. I've been setting it up for racing in San Francisco (where average wind speed is stronger than most places) and discovered that the backstay does not have enough throw to tighten it enough in stronger breeze - the hydraulic bottoms out, even in 10 knots. And when I ...
