Re: Intermittent Engine Water Issue

I've had same issue. Is the water pump belt moving? For me, the water pump belt was one size too big and never tight enough. Got the right size on there and issue was resolved.

Re: Gebo Portlight Replacement Parts

An unfortunate update on the Gebo portlights ... after a change in ownership, Gebo slimmed its offerings and discontinued the "Econoline" port lights that were installed on J/109s. There are still some parts available, including the hinges set, handle set, and sealing rubber. The sealing rubbers are ...

Re: 3GM Exhaust Elbow

Prices have gone up since 2016-17, but the stainless replacement was available and shipped quickly. With the elbow on the vice, I could really crank down the connections so few threads are showing. And all threads were sealed with high temp silicone. (The silicone might have been missing from the ...

Re: 3GM Exhaust Elbow

During 2022 NA's at Pequot, Bill Kneller (hull #266) let me know that the noise and smell of exhaust on #261 was not normal. The elbow was replaced by the yard in 2020 after we had overheating issues, so I was surprised to be having this problem. This spring, I tried to re-bed and tighten the seals ...

Part 2 - Paint Removal and Sanding

We are also in the process of redoing the bottom paint, so we used Total Boat Total Strip to remove paint when the temperatures were above 60 degrees. Then we had to switch to just sanding. With all the bottom paint removed we put the templates on the keel at the ...

Part 1 - History and Getting Started

The keel on #261 has been a headache every off season I have owned the boat. We have had groundings, electrolysis, a lightning strike that seemed to damage the keel, canals of water at the seam, etc. (See pics below). Every year I sanded the problems, filled ...

Garmin Autopilot?

Has anyone installed an autopilot on the Garmin instrument system? Would love to see pictures and a parts list if you have any! #261 has no autopilot (but we do have a power cord run for it!).
