Re: Bolt rope luff
Marc,
I use slugs in the existing mast track for my everyday sail and use it with PHRF racing. It has also been used for some OD racing. I have my race main with a bolt rope. They are exactly the same sails except for that. In my opinion, for everyday use the slugs are much easier with minimal ...

Dan - did you read what I said? It didn't work so don't do it that way. Just do the bungee external to hold it out of the water. That is what I do now.

Re: Replacement Wheel for Helm
You are not removing paint, it is powder coated. You have to mechanically remove (e.g. sand) the peeling stuff. No need to remove everything as long as the areas you leave adhere well.

Re: Mast deck plate / collar rebedding
The greatest source of water I found was the aft side mast groove that extends through the deck, Pull the mast boot and get some sealant that flows with a thin tip inserted in the groove and fill that groove well into the hole where the mast goes through the deck. Extend bead so it is filled above ...

Re: Winch Upgrade
The Ronstan Winches have a different diameter base, are lighter and have different gear / power ratios than the original Harken winches. Thus they are not acceptable for one design use. The only acceptable one design alternatives are the Harken winches previously approved by the class measurer in ...

Re: Painting wheel?
Dan,
Remove all the leather and foam. You get new foam and leather with the kit. I sanded the chipping spots and sprayed an etching primer. Once that cured I used a spray can of white epoxy appliance paint.

Re: Yanmar Saildrive seacock
I did some more online searching and came up with a stainless steel approach. The following should screw into the saildrive with BSP threads and provide direct transition to an NPT thread. A 90 degree male NPT to female NPT elbow provides a transition to a stainless ball valve with male/female NPT ...

Re: Yanmar Saildrive seacock
Just another thought.. What if the original valve was used as is and an inline ball valve put in the exit hose. It isn't as failsafe as a full mechanical connection and wouldn't meet ABYC standards, but still provides an easier isolation for the water from the saildrive.
