Jib Harken Cam Cleat

Post by Dan Corcoran »

One of my cam cleats is failing, which version of the Harken Cam Cleat do we have on our 109's? Is it serviceable without removing it?

Dan,

If you have not, make sure you try shooting in some McLube (or better yet, Harken OneDrop bearing conditioner) to see if you can get the cleat functioning again. Otherwise, you will need to remove to replace or fully service. Harken 150 Standard Cam-Matic is the replacement (Hull 251). Make sure you add a fresh fairlead as well.

These are always serviceable and often times if the McLube doesn't work its actually the top screws that are too tight. They not only hold the unit in place but also "clamp down" on the jaws themselves. Try backing these off a bit, make sure you have a good locking nut on the back.
