I'm curious if chartering J-109s for event is as common as it is in the J-105 and other J-boat fleets.
I am considering making my J-109 based in San Francisco available for charter. It's a 2007 and in process of getting set up for go-fast. Bring your sails or let's negotiate new sails vs charter price.
The two main events in the area are 1, the Rolex Big Boat Series in September, which would not be one-design for the J-109s. It's a great event that should be on the bucket list for any competitive sailor. 2 would be Long Beach Race Week, which has a solid J-109 one design fleet and fabulous nice-weather racing in Southern California. 2023 is in the past, but 2024 will come up soon enough. There may be others as well.
Not sure this is the correct place to offer available charter or not.
DM me if interested.

Re: Charter J-109 available California
Dan,
The class has made loaner boats available for North American championships, most recently at the NAs at Pequot YC in 2022 (Courageous sailed Morning Glory) and Chicago in 2021 (Growth Spurt sailed Slapshot). These were arranged with the respective owners. I'm not sure if money changed hands but I do know the cost of insurance was paid by the skippers sailing the event. Sails were provided by the racing Skipper.
I had planned to make Vento Solare available on a loaner basis to the UK J/109 National Champions for the ORC World Championship that was to be held at New York YC, but the event was canceled due to COVID. The arrangement was that there would be no charge providing I was on the crew. The person chartering would bring their own sails, pay for any required expenses to have the boat fully ORC measured (including boat weight and inclining measurements) and pay all regatta expenses. Since my boat is local for the event there were no dockage fees.

Wow that's generous. J105s can fetch many $000s to charter for a major regatta here, not including all those other costs.
