Water Pump

Post by Dan Corcoran »

I don't think I got 300 hours out of my new seawater pump before it started leaking through the weep hole. Going drip drip rather fast.

Is that unusual?

Yes that is unusual. If you have tools such as a bearing puller and press you may replace the rip seal yourself. See the Yanmar 3YM30 parts catalog with the raw water pump diagram Figure 13. You want to replace the o-ring (item 15) and rip seal (item 19). Make sure the shaft is not scored. If it is, you need to replace it and any associate parts along the access that the shaft might have scored.
