I've been in contact with the BBR chair. They will be happy to accommodate the J/109 class as a distinct class. They would set up a separate start within the PHRF circle with a minimum of 6 boats. However, they need to know as soon as possible whether we'll have enough boats. Can you get back to me within the next few days if you're planning to do this series, August 6-8? Even better yet, register if you can! http://www.buzzardsbayregatta.com/

Assuming we can get six boats (and I'm confident we can!) we also need to decide on sails. Our options are:
1) One-design scoring, class sails only
2) One design scoring, class sails + 152% genoa (max)
3) One design scoring, class sails + 155% genoa (max)
4) One design scoring, class sails + genoa + one extra spinnaker
5) PHRF-NE scoring

A couple of considerations. First, BBR is sometimes a glassy drifter, so class sails may be painful. On the other hand, everybody has a class jib. Second, PHRF-NE and NB have a max genoa size of 152% (without penalty); LIS is 155%, so choosing one for one design would unfair to either any LIS boats or NE and NB boats. Or we can choose PHRF scoring, and take ratings penalties accordingly.

If you're planning on doing the series, please send me your thoughts.
