Sparcraft mast & boom parts hard to obtain

Post by Dan Corcoran »

Parts I ordered in January took six months to obtain, others are unattainable.

At the moment I am most insterested in a replacement pin for the back of the boom through which 4 sheeves go through. Anyone know an alternate source?

Sparcraft PN# 40020110083 S/S STRAIGHT PIN 10 X 83
Alternate PN# 502056 S/S STRAIGHT PIN 10X83 SPARCRAFT

You could probably get a local machine shop to make one for you pretty easily.

Sparcraft has atrocious customer service when ordering parts. RigRite is a better option with more in stock parts and quicker shipping. They can also cross reference part #'s from the Sparcraft list of J109 original rig parts on this site.

As for the pin, I would just try hitting it with a scotch brite wheel on a bench grinder, otherwise you can likely have a machine shop fabricate one or get some ss rod from McMaster-Carr.

Sorry to hear.
Here in Germany I just got the same part (pin for aft of the boom) delivered within a few days from stock.
Was around 10 Eur. from Hahnfeld Masten.
Maybe ordering from there?
Shipping cannot be too expensive.
