This advertised to stay on for 15 seconds to sponge the bilge.
https://aqualarm.net/index.php?main_pag ... cts_id=204

Mine does not do that. The entire on interval is as short as 3 seconds, enought to lower the water level, and then over 15 minutes the water comes back in and it pumps again.

Is the feature missing from older SS209's or some other explination?

Thank you

Hi Dan,
Ours appears original to the boat and still functions with that 15 sec run time after it gets to the bottom. I do have an aluminum bracket to hold it at a level that compliments where the pump can reach in between the keel bolts, though the idea of "sponging" is a stretch. I don't have a check valve in the bilge plumbing so some water comes back in immediately after the pump stops.

The delay is nice on these boats since the limber holes between the keel grid / bilge bulkheads are very small and it takes a bit for water under the table to move back to refill that aft void where the pump is.

Mystery solved, the previous boat owner replaced the SS209 with a near identical looking product that does not have the delay.

I am going to replace it with the SS209.
