Hi all,
I'm a fresh 109 owner and was wondering what anchor weight is adequate for a the 109, in the opinion of users.
Thanks for any advice,
Ciao,
Alex

Alex - this will generate LOTS of discussion! We have a 2 fortress (F16) anchors. We have one as a primary anchor and another as a back up. The back up anchor is kept dissasembled in a bag in the dock box. We do not have a bow roller, and things seem to work just fine. Also, tie of the anchor off around the sprit housing. Congratulations on your new boat! Maya

We only race, but for what it's worth I carry an assembled Fortress 16 as well.

Does anyone use a heavier anchor than an FX-16 (11 lbs)? Where and how do you secure your anchors for offshore sailing?

I know this will horrify many puritan racers on this site, but, Craig, for cruising purposes I use a 10kg Delta Anchor with 50m 8mm chain and a (removable) electric windlass and bow roller.
This way I pass relaxed nights outside ports here in the Mediterranean. The downside is that it's hard in the beginning to accept that your gorgeous boat will dip its nose a bit for all the time you will carry that stuff on your bow, and that it will loose agility in passing on waves. To be true, I haven't really accepted that yet...
Better solutions welcome!
