Crew Weigh-in:
The J/109 North American Championship will have class rule 6.2 in effect.  All crew members will be required to weigh in on Tuesday 12 July.  Weigh in is being conducted at the New York YC sailing office on Tuesday 12 July between 0830 and 1800.  Those who require a late weigh in should contact Bud Rogers, J/109 Class Secretary secretary@j109.org via email to make special arrangements.

Crew Declaration:
The J/109 North American Championship will require that the same number of crew be onboard each day.  All skippers are reminded to have their crews register for the event on the Yachtscoring site for this event.  Skippers may enter the names and email address information for their crew, and the crew will receive email notification.  Each crew member enters their personal data, ISAF Sailor Classification and emergency contact information.  They may also enter an estimated weight to allow a rough calculation of total crew weight.  If there are different crew members sailing on different days, all crew members must be registered.  Please forward this to all crew members so they may complete the required information.

Liability Waivers:
The New York Yacht Club requires that all participants in the event including crew members complete a liability waiver.  This is accomplished online at this liability waiver link.  Please forward this to all crew members so they may complete the required waiver.

ISAF (World Sailing) Sailor Classification Requirements:
J/109 Class Rules have specific requirements on the number of Class 3 (Professional) sailors allowed on each boat.  Additionally, for the 2016 North American Championship there will be a Corinthian Trophy awarded to the boat having all Category 1 crew with the best overall finish, and sails greater than two years old.  All skippers are requested to have the ISAF Sailor Classification screening completed at this link for each crew member. Once an individual has an ISAF # and Sailor Classification assigned, they should enter the data on the Yachtscoring site for this event by logging in to the Crew’s CornerPlease forward this to all crew members so they may complete the required information.

Class Sail Declarations:
J/109 Class Rules require that all sails used for one design races be registered with the class, and limits the number of sails to one main, two jibs, and two spinnakers for the event.  Additionally, for the 2016 North American Championship there will be a Corinthian Trophy awarded to the boat having all Category 1 crew with the best overall finish, and sails greater than two years old.  Sail tag numbers will be verified during boat measurement.  In order to streamline the measurement process, Skippers are requested to declare the sail tag numbers in advance so the tag numbers may be verified in the J/109 Class database.  This may be accomplished by entering the data on the Yachtscoring site for this event by logging in to the Owner’s Corner and selecting My Sail Inventory to enter your sail data.  Enter the J/109 Class Royalty tag number in the field labeled Class Button.

Boat Measurement – Reservations Required!
The J/109 Class will conduct measurement of all boats competing in the 2016 North American Championship.  A checklist available on the class website at this link will be used to conduct the measurement.  Measurement will be conducted at the Sail Newport Alofsin piers on Tuesday 12 July starting at 0830 and finishing at 1230.  There are 45 minute time slots allocated on three piers.  The time slot includes 30 minutes to conduct the measurement and 15 minutes for the boat to tie up and have all required items readily available for inspection.  Skippers may reserve a time for a boat measurement time slot at this link.  On the day of measurement, please have two crew members onboard and be prompt, with all “removable” items on the checklist available in the main cabin for inspection.  Once measurement is complete, you will be required to vacate the measurement slip to make room for the next boat.

North U Starting Clinic for J/109 Class:
Bill Gladstone from North U will be conducting a starting clinic for the J/109 Class on Tuesday 12 July, similar to the one held at Block Island Race Week in 2015. The clinic will be conducted by North U Director Bill Gladstone and other North U Regatta Services Coaches.  The fee is $150/ Boat.  To register you may sign up at www.NorthU.com or by calling Fran or Bill at North U: 203 245-0727
