2021 is here and the J/109 calendar is coming together! Registration is open for many events, so please register early and show everyone our fleets will be showing up for great racing. A few events to highlight:
2021 North American Championship – Columbia YC (Chicago, IL) – July 29 to August 1. Preparations are well underway by the Great Lakes Fleet for this to be a phenomenal post-COVID event. Charter boats are available for travelers. Start planning early to make sure your sails are tagged and boats are ready to measure in. The inspection checklist is posted here.
2021 East Coast Championship – Block Island Race Week – June 21-25. 13 J/109s already registered for this east coast classic.
Cedar Point One Design – Cedar Point YC (Westport, CT) – June 5 & 6. Five J/109s already registered. Usually the biggest J/109 one-design event on Long Island Sound. Mandatory event of the East Coast Regatta Series.
NYYC Annual Regatta – New York YC (Newport, RI) – June 11-13. Head up to Newport after Cedar Point for another East Coast Regatta Series event!
Congratulations to Andy Wescoat and his Harm’s Way crew, whose season has already started, on taking Second Overall in the SORC series. Despite some COVID travel complications, the SORC made four events happen this winter, and at least some of them were great J/109 conditions!
Finally, I am thrilled to report that the J/109 Executive Board met in April and voted to award the 2022 North American Championship to Pequot YC in Southport, CT. The event will be held in October, and we expect a great turnout! Indeed, the Pequot fleet has eight J/109s in their harbor, with literally dozens more within a short motor.
Have an excellent Spring boat-prep season and I look forward to seeing everyone on the water.

J/109 Custom Boat Website Subscriptions Available
The J/109 Class has arranged with Crew Manager LLC to make custom J/109 boat websites available. Crew Manager provides a boat website with features the Skipper & Crew will use throughout the sailing season. In a nutshell, the team website provides a “Who, What, When, Where and Wear” schedule with automatic reminders. After an event, the Skipper may post results and crew members may submit comments, pictures and stories about the event. Crew Manager works on most any device with a web browser including PC, Mac, iPad, Android tablet, iPhone and Android Phone. The cost for an annual subscription is $90 and includes the website setup. Crew Manager LLC will donate 10% of all 2020 J/109 annual subscription orders to the J/109 Class. The following J/109s have Crew Manager websites.
