President’s Message February 2020 |
Hello %firstname% %lastname%,
Fellow Class Members–
I am humbled to have been chosen to lead this great Class Association in 2020, and am thankful for Bill Kneller and the other officers that led us to this excellent spot! My goals are pretty simple: to increase participation at class events and maintain the J109 as a relevant, national (and international) class for 35-foot keel boat racing.
To that end, thank you to everyone who supported the rule change that will allow the Great Lakes Fleet to host the 2020 North American Championship. As of today, 14 boats have registered and we are looking for many more to join the mix. Pete Priede and the Columbia YC team are doing a great job organizing the event and you can learn more about it on the event website: http://www.j109chicago.org/.
In addition, the Class website has many regattas in the calendar and registration links are updated as they become available. I encourage everyone to sign up early for regattas to show other owners that the event will be well attended. The calendar entry for the 2020 North American Championship is displayed at the bottom of this message.
Good luck to everyone as you prepare for the season (or as your season keeps going year round). See you on the water.
