Fall 2010 Class President’s Letter

Fellow J/109 Class Members,

As we stretch into fall, at least for those of us in the northeastern US the sailing season is beginning to wind down. We have one more event on our calendar: the Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta, hosted by Storm Trysail Foundation and Larchmont Yacht Club. The J/109 Class is proud to be associated with this event and has been a regular participant for the last six years. This is the largest big boat collegiate regatta in the country with something approaching 40 teams from all over the US.

Looking back at the season, it’s great to know that when we gather together for championship regattas the racing is always close and everyone leaves feeling they got their money’s worth. Bill Sweetser’s RUSH team had a terrific season winning the Mid-Atlantic Championship in April, the East Coast Championship and the East Coast Regatta Series Championship in September. They were also named the Overall Winner of the Larchmont NOOD which entitles them to a spot in the Caribbean NOOD Championship in the BVI in November. Good luck Team RUSH!
