We don't even look at our back stay until we see 13 true.
As for a starting point for your mast tune we use the North Tuning guide.

We use North 3DL, don't tell the Anarchist. We are very happy with the sails. The service was great last year, we haven't heard much from our guy this year. I am sure he will be calling over the winter.
We used Doyle on our 105.

Yes we do carry a #3. When we had our 105 the first few regattas we attended we used our PHRF #3 as a class sail, it was made for big air. All the other boats had sails that you could see through ours took two people to lift. I guess that I am bitter because we have at least 10 PHRF sails in the bas...

Last night was one of those races, 3 knots true wind. We sailed the boat low and loose. The genoa was out side the life lines. We were 7 minutes ahead of the second boat. The jib likely would have had better shape allowing us to point high but in that light of air hi is slow. Anything under 15 true ...

I like going fast. If the #1 is the fastest sail then we should be able to use it. We have been
considering going to Key West this winter but likely will go elsewhere because we are
setup for PHRF and don't really want to spend $10000 on class equipment we will
probably never use again.

We have a North main and have had no trouble at all with the slides. Any chance you have a bur on the mast catching the slide?

With the amount of 109's sold this form should be rockin. Why is it that there is no action? Crew and owners are going to other forms to get their information. If you have questions, and I am sure you do post them hear.
