Sold: 2005, VIENTO, Hull 254, Portland OR

VIENTO is one of the cleanest and best maintained J/109’s available. She is comprehensively equipped with updates to her sail inventory (North 3Di), running rigging, canvas, and electronics. Her low hour Yanmar 3YM30 engine runs perfectly! VIENTO has been primarily day sailed and only VERY lightly r...

Re: Boat Storage, water question

The anchor locker leak seems odd as heck. Did you get to the bottom of that one, Mike? It was by far the biggest mystery leak for us. At the bottom of the locker there is the drain hole and on the outside of the boat there is a chrome scupper plate that directs the water aft. That plate is held in ...

Re: Refrigeration - compressor location

Our boat is a US made boat and I think You have also solved a mystery to our boat as there is a new never used "OEM" 12 V electrical run to that exact location.

Many Thanks Bill - always helpful.

Refrigeration - compressor location

We are going to add 12V refrigeration to our ice box and would like to know where the compressor is located in boats that have this as a factory installed item. I looked but did not see in the owner manual drawings.
Thanks for the help! Mike

Re: Boat Storage, water question

1. Inside of mast - this was our last point of entry and tricky to solve. The mast has a "dam" located just below the lowest halyard exit slot. Ours was/is held in place by a single rivet. I think the dam is made of some form of plastic (possibly UHMW). Anyway water was coming down mast an...

Re: For Sale: 2015 Spinnaker

Is the spinnaker still available? If so, do you know the sailmaker and specific cloth/cloth weight used?
Thanks for the additional info.

Re: Alternator Belt Dust Fix

Preparing to upgrade to serpentine belt system/kit to solve the belt dust problem and have noticed on our boat that the raw water (RW) pump belt appears to also be generating belt dust - d/t poor alignment of the RW pulley. Has the RW pulley alignment been a problem for other boats or is there enoug...

Mast Assembly - set up

We are in the process of rigging our mast that has been unstepped, in storage, and now moved to new port. During that process I failed to take detailed photos of the mast prior to disassembly and now have a few question . 1. Has anyone found information from Sparcraft on procedures they recommend? H...

Re: clearcoat on sprit failing

Same issue on 254. I went against my better judgment and re clear coated it. It looks great but ceartain at some point it will need it again. My logic went like this 1. I have worked with carbon enough and I'm more confident in my abilities to get a nice finish with clear coat. 2. Vanity - I like cl...
