Look here on the Balmar site and match to your engine / alternator.

Re: Alternator Belt Dust Fix

I definitely recommend the serpentine belt upgrade as described in my post. Fixed the belt dust issue and the engine runs smoother.

It is a great winter project!

Re: Alternator Belt Dust Fix

Jerry, I would check a few things. First would be to see if there was a bad batch of belts from the manufacturer. The problem may be due to that. Check to see if any contaminants (water, oil, anti-freeze) might have gotten or are sprayed on the belt Check to see if the belt tensioning is slipping ca...

Re: Harken Furling System

The Harken Mark IV Unit 1 is approved by class rules and somewhat more compact than the Mark III it replaces.

Re: Wind Sensor Replacement or Repair

Sorry to say that there is no "standard" wind sensor since instrument packages were not factory installed. The mast cables run through a PVC pipe attached to the inside of the mast. Running a new cable is best done with the mast down. Depending on what instrument s you have you may want to...

Re: Bilge pump replacement

Matt, Hull 266 has a Rule 800 with a separate Aqualarm SS209 Float Switch in the bilge section under the table. This has a remote light at the engine panel that illuminates if the pump is on more than 2 minutes. The switch comes with an alarm but it isn't installed. All this was original equipment o...

Replacement Sparcraft Mast Information

Earlier this spring I had the unfortunate incident where Vento Solare tipped over during a wind storm while on the hard. The picture below shows the boat resting against the adjacent building. This stayed for 3 days until the winds subsided which resulted in damage to the mast and rigging. Fortunate...

Re: Replacing Mainsail Halyard Sheave

It can be done with the mast up. Always easier with the mast down, but no need to go through that expense if there is no other reason to drop the rig.

Re: Replacing Mainsail Halyard Sleave

I'll let you know next week. My mast is off awaiting a replacement from storm damage and I'll check out the sheave at the yard when I'm there.

Re: Clear Engine Ignition Cover Replacement / Repair

John,

Do they have the dimensions to produce this for a "standard" order, or was it a one time custom build?

Re: Solar Panel

Dan,

I assume you are on a mooring. The draw on the reefer in the manual is 4.5 - 6 amps / hour. The panel should be sized to handle that, plus the occasional bilge pump cycling. Are you planning on adding a solar charge controller too?

8mm x 85 feet stripped 20 feet Samson Warspeed or NE Endurabraid

Eye splice one on stripped end, whipped other end. Yes soft shackles are allowed and I use them

85 feet allows for outside jibes if needed for big breeze and short handed sailing. Otherwise, we do inside jibes.
