Re: Dual Genoa Cars Not Allowed

Our tracks are not compatible with cars that have captive bearings? That sucks!

Re: Dual Genoa Cars Not Allowed

No deck penetration? Cool, I missed that! Do you do this 2nd car? Some questions if you do (1) Anything I should know about choosing/purchasing the car, as I see the ideal car (tangs on each end, no sheve) is not available. Do I add tangs to the harken car somehow? (2) When you set it up for a remov...

Re: Dual Genoa Cars Not Allowed

I can see the rationale for switching to 4:1 and did in fact do this a couple of weekends ago. Unfortunately, in response to the COVID pandemic, we need to make our boats easier to operate not more difficult in reduced crew size scenarios as we are encountering now as our clubs and others on long is...

Re: Fluxgate compass mounting location

Your welcome. If you unavoidably need to pass through battery wire a common choice/remedy is to instead cross over it at a 90-degree angle and otherwise stay 3" or more away.

Dual Genoa Cars Not Allowed

When swapping between OD jibs and PHRF jibs, it was suggested by my sailmaker to have two cars, one following an adjustable length behind the other. I learned through Bill and another part of this forum that it would be a rules violation. To make the modification of the class rule acceptable, it see...

Re: Fluxgate compass mounting location

Raymarine location - LOL. Well, I wouldn't put it there, but it might just be good enough. I don't think you can expect much of a performance increase by moving it unless the Raymarine reports a really substantial "corrected deviation" in the calibration menu, like over 8% as even in a per...

Re: Winch Handle Holder Alternative

Do you have a picture of your modification?

We mostly reused the holes, but seem to be suffering that the pockets are angled. Lines in the cockpit easily snag the handles and pull them out of the pocket.

Additional Genoa Cars

1. As I will be flipping between different size genoa's this year as I accommodate JAM racing in my season, I am considering placing an additional genoa car after my existing cars where I can adjust it to follow at different lengths. I hear this is common on J-boats. Does this work well for anyone? ...

Competitive spinnaker racing ideas on a crew size of 4!

Our Lloyd Harbor Yacht PHRF group was thinking of restarting races with single and double handed divisions, and after coming to their senses is choosing instead to have racing divisions that use a crew size limiting idea from Try Sail Club called "Plus 1", limiting crew sizes to (size of b...

What gel coat color for J/109s from 2007?

Where to find matching gel coat color for J/109 2007? Re: J/109 Sails & Equipment for Sale

For the $300 kite, I don't have a picture. Yes, it can last a couple of seasons. Just don't have expectations it is as pretty, fast, strong, or as rugged in rough seas or caught under your boat as a newer kite like the other one I offer.

Re: WTB Good used mainsail

Few of us are willing to part with our sails. I appreciate when another owner made a jib available to me, and have turned around and made an effort to list some sails I probably should sell. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QMWVOZadcgR4jdT6EQghqtLjGWYsVOzaHytnKghXaGY/edit?usp=sharing The sail...
