Re: Class Jib (North Sails 3DL 105%) for sale
Couple of questions. Does this sail have a sun cover or will I need a sock? I ask because it looks like it has a taffita on one side. Second question was this a racing or cruising sail? Meaning was it cut low to the deck and with a roach like a racing sail or is it higher cut. When was the sail buil...

spin halyard
Hello All,
I need to replace on of my spin halyards this season. Was wondering if anyone had a good recommendation for a replacement. I'm not looking for grand prix level stuff but something at least as good as what was original or maybe one step better.
Thanks.

sheeting angle
I'm trying to get up to speed with the rest of the one design guys in my area. I think I need a lot of help with sail trim. I have the boat unloaded and a fairly smooth and clean bottom. I do have my radar pole up. I know this is not helping. How far in do you sheet the jib? Typically we get it arou...

Re: APR 100 Spin
Hi Bill, Thanks for the link. That all makes sense. I was wondering if the APR 100 meant it was more of an A1 sail than an A2. Looks like it's an A2, which seems about right. Though I don't seem to be able to go as low as the other 109 in our club. Maybe the sail is just really old. Thanks again.

APR 100 Spin
Hello All,
Our boat came with a Doyle spin. On the bag it says APR 100. Any idea what this means? Is it different from a regular class spin? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: Rudder bearing replacement
Yikes! That's pretty steep. The rudder looks fairly easy to drop down so I wonder if there is a lot of work involved with removing the bearing. Maybe for the custom bearing there is some glass work involved? In the manual there is a diagram with Edson part numbers. I'll give them a call and see what...

Re: Engine hour meter
Thanks that worked. I was able to get the gauge apart and the old silicone cleaned out. The hour meter appears to have gone from working around 20% of the time to around 70% of the time. I left it on the test bench running for a while yesterday. I might mess with it a little more when I get a chance...

I would like to see pictures of the pipe berths if you have them handy.
Thanks.

Re: Engine hour meter
Bill,
How did you remove the tach from it's case? I have it sitting on my desk and I removed the three Torx screws from the back. Does the front clear plastic shield pry off?
Thanks.

Projects for Spring 2014
Hello All, Anyone have any good projects in the works for this spring? Some things I'm going to start working on. Rewire the Xantrax battery monitor. Mine does not show charging on the #1 battery bank. Rudder bearings replace / adjust. Refinish the radar pole, clear coat is flaking off. Add a batter...

Rudder bearing replacement
Hello All, When we hauled out in the Fall I noticed a bit of play in the rudder. My guess is the bearings need adjustment or replacement. This is something I'm going to tackle in March. Are there any online resources outlining checking / replacing these bearings? Any help here will be appreciated. T...

Hi Bill,
Thanks for posting this. I'm going to download to my ipad later. I'm sure it will come in handy when I start commissioning the boat this spring.

Re: J/109 Class Activity
Hi Bill, Welcome aboard. Yes this message board is under used compared to some of the others I'm used to. I used to own a Sabre 30 and the Sabre message board (Yahoo group) has 25 plus messages per day. Anyway I purchased sweet caroline hull # 239 last year. We have cruised her a good bit and did a ...
