Re: Prop washer

Correct Bill. This is for the nut/hex bolt combo that holds the prop body on the shaft. It is a key component to making sure your prop does not come off. Also the provided screws come with waterproof loctite.

Prop washer

When you replace the seals in your lower sail drive every two years (or if you take your prop off for other maintenance), you should replace the prop washer and locking screws. If you have the flexfold 2 blade https://j109.org/docs/flexofold_installation_2-blade-us-sdz-2_0_2013.pdf, here is the plac...

Re: 2016 J/109 North American Championship Feedback Desired

I think it is important to have cat 3 sailors to help coach and teach to fleet overall. My recommendation is to allow cat 3 sailors in race events except for the NAs. At the level of the NAs, the hope would be that the crew has learned what they need and should be able to compete fairly with the res...

Re: Main sheet system

Thank you for your response. I agree there is the disadvantage of extra length of line, but I don't see this change impacting performance in a one-design class. If the higher ratio allows my main sheet trimmers to fully sheet in the main without having to use 2 people, I would prefer this over deali...

Re: Crew weight

I don't think there would be a problem if the max weight of the driver (220 lbs) is added to the current J/109 one-design rule crew weight of 1,213 lbs. Where this helps is for crews that have a lighter driver and anything under 220 lbs can be added to the crew weight. This evens out overall crew we...

Crew weight

Can crew weight rules be discussed during the annual meeting? I suggest something similar to the J/105 class rules were the weight of the driver is included. "The maximum crew weight (in swimming apparel) for one-design racing is 474 kilograms (1045 lbs.) with no limit on numbers of crew. An Ow...
