reparing wood finish
I have some water stains on my nav station seat and a significant wearing away of the finish on my top stair.
Any advice for renewing the finish?
Sand and apply Epifanes, or does the old faded varnish need to be removed?

Re: Harken 57mm ESP Mastcollar blocks
So I misdiagnosed this as being a load vs strength problem? Thank you.
Yea, I could put some effort in.
While this is the only block that is twisted, two others have gaps. Is this normal or are your blocks from a different manufacturer?

Spinnaker pole question
My pole is getting beat up by the block on the end. The pole was beautifully repainted last winter.
Any obvious problem here?

Harken 57mm ESP Mastcollar blocks
Some of my mastcollar blocks are deformed. I am wondering if I should be replacing them with something tougher, and if yes, with what?

Re: Removing the center table
My vote, center tables stays. I mostly race my J/109. Both racing and cruising we have meals on the table, go through the trouble of moving the anchor back to the rear so we can use the table, and can't imagine it not being there. The arguments in favor of keeping the table that resonate with me: * ...

Masthead Nav Lights
Has anyone given thought / heard a complaint about 109 nav lights not being visible when flying spinnaker? Apparently, there is a rule that requires our nav lights are visible, and failing that being possible from the bow, we should have masthead nav lights.

Removing the center table
Our table cover is really heavy, about 6 lbs. My crew offered to make something much lighter. I mentioned to them that I heard on the annual class call that the table could become unnecessary in the class rules, and likely removed to save weight and make it easier for spin douses. They asked me to k...

Changing the hard stuff - engine & rigging - how often
As my 2006 J/109 reaches 15 years old next year, I wonder what i should be thinking about for maintenance beyond the basics. Has anyone changed things like engine mounts (4 yrs / 1000 hrs says yanmar), mixing elbows (mine does not look original), prop shaft seals, or rod rigging during the life of t...

Jib Harken Cam Cleat
One of my cam cleats is failing, which version of the Harken Cam Cleat do we have on our 109's? Is it serviceable without removing it?

Re: Balmar MC-614 Alternator Regulator
I worked at it a while. Do you mean the entire pedal comes off, including the arm, or only the rubber foot comes off?
To get the arm off as well, I need to undo the pump? What is it secured too?
