This may be a little picky, but can we use lighter spool shackles for the halyards? I'm adding 2 halyards (I could have really used an extra one when we lost one the spin halyard in heavy air). Similar type of cordage as the stock halyards that came with the boat, but was thinking of using a spool shackle instead of the heavier metal ones. It looks like we can use similar devices on the sheets, but no mention whether we can substitute a shackle on the halyard. Or are we only limited to the J-109 halyards that's listed with Hall Spars? Splitting hairs? Just need to check before I order them and the type of splice. Thanks

Has any one used the spool shackles?

Jerry,

We use spool shackles on our jib sheets and they work great. Quick and easy to attach or detach lines.
