Windlass

Post by carlbraden »

Hello,

Does anyone know the make and model number for the J109 electric windlass?

Also anyone with operational experience using the electric windlass - ie is it up for the task?

Thanks

Carl

Multiple mentions of it in the specifications depending on year, but didn't see a specific part#. https://j109.org/info/drawings-manuals/

With the thought that went into most other systems, I wouldn't see any reason to question the designers on that one until it proves substandard. Does your boat have a factory bow roller?

Yes my 109 has the wiring ready to go for a windlass and it has the removable bow roller.

I have looked extensively through the materials available and no where does it mention the optioned windlass vendor or model.

Even the J Boats guys were unable to provide the data.

Given the design is a 2003 vintage I expect like most things that the advances on electric motors that a current model windlass would offer improvements in efficiencies and power.

Still hoping someone can have a look at their 109 and let me know the windlass details.

Thanks

Glad to see this thread, and I look forward to suggestions as I wish to install an electric windlass also. Can you let me know how/where the wiring is run? Maybe a picture or two? I don’t think my boat (Hull 263) is wired for a windlass but would like a pleasant surprise :)
