Is anyone bothered by the fact that there is no boom-mounted turning block to pull the main DOWN from the new clew (along with the existing system which pulls it back diagonally)? We don't have much heavy air, but when there's a need to reef, I get real nervous we're loading the sail improperly. Comments?

Reefing

Reefing line runs from the sheave at the boom end, through the cringle then down to the boom. Round turn and a bowline (or two half hitches) around the boom to terminate. Don't tie the reefing line to the cringle, it will damage the sail (to say nothing of the horrible shape you'll get). We've been putting the round turn between the two mainsheet block padeyes, but you'll have to experiment.
