Our J/109 (USA 205) is new this year, and we've had repeated problems with the track on the mast. We've changed slides on the mainsail several times because they become deformed as the main is raised and lowered. Our first thought was that North used slides that were too small, but even the largest slides are binding now. Has anyone had this problem? Do you have a solution?

We have a North main and have had no trouble at all with the slides. Any chance you have a bur on the mast catching the slide?

Ed, I just took delivery of boat I purchased from the left coast. In our two outings so far the main has gone up fine but has been very difficult getting back down. The slides seem to cock to the side in the track and hang. I am going to try a good dose of lube this weekend to see what difference that makes.

Try loosening the outhaul and vang when raising and lowering the main.
