How to be notified for private messages, replies to your posts, or new posts in selected forums

Each user has the ability to select various notification options for postings on the forum and private messages. Here is how you select the options available (assumes you are logged in to do this).

Personal Message Notification Emails

Notify when Private Messages are received: Click the dropdown arrow in the upper right where your login name is shown, then click on "User Control Panel" to open the user control panel (UCP). Click "Board Preferences" tab at the top, then "Edit Global Settings" on the left. Click "Yes" next to Notify me on new private messages:. Note that if you select "No" for Allow users to send you private messages:, you will only receive messages from the board administrator, so unless you are trying to hide from everyone, you should allow users to send you messages. Change any other settings on this screen that you want, then click the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page.

Notify when someone replies to your Posts: Click the dropdown arrow in the upper right where your login name is shown, then click on "User Control Panel" to open the user control panel (UCP). Click "Board Preferences" tab at the top, then "Edit posting defaults" on the left. Click "Yes" next to Notify me upon replies by default:. Note that you can override this for each post, but the default allows you to be notified if anyone replies to your forum posts. Change any other settings on this screen that you want, then click the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page.

Forum & Topic Notification Emails

Notify when someone Posts in a Forum: Click "Board Index" on the upper left menu bar below the J/109 logo to display all the forums. Click on the title of a forum that you want to be notified when a posting is made (e.g. Class Association Business, Maintenance Topics, etc.). Scroll to the bottom of the page below all of the postings. At the bottom left there will be a box with a check mark and a label displayed that either reads"Subscribe Forum" or "Unsubscribe Forum". If you click on the respective text that is displayed, it toggles your selection. When that forum is selected as subscribed, you will receive an email whenever somebody posts in that forum. You can go through each of the forums and make your subscription selections as desired.
