J/109 Corinthian North American Champion Perpetual Trophy

Since its inception, the J/109 Class Association has been committed to promoting competitive, Corinthian one-design racing.  As part of that commitment, in 2016, the Class began recognizing the top Corinthian boat at its annual North American Championship.  Today, the Corinthian North American Champion is the boat achieving the best score at the North American Championship sailing with a crew consisting of all World Sailing Category 1 sailors.

At the 2018 North American Championship in Larchmont, NY, 11 of the 20 teams were vying for the Corinthian title.  In recognition of this enthusiasm for Corinthian racing, the Class recently purchased a beautiful half-hull model perpetual trophy (pictured below) to commemorate the Corinthian North American Champion each year.  With 21 more plaques available, we expect this to be a popular trophy for years to come! The Corinthian trophy was awarded to Picante (John Sahagian) in 2016, Gut Feeling (Ted Herlihy) in 2017, and Growth Spurt (John Greifzu, Jr.) in 2018.
