Raritan Yacht Club welcomes the J/109 class to the 2015 Red Grant and 150th Anniversary Regatta.  One of the oldest clubs in the nation, RYC is proud to have been a family club located in historic Perth Amboy since 1865.  RYC hosts some of the best racing in the Mid-Atlantic and is thrilled that the J/109s have chosen us to host one of your major championships.  We also appreciate the Gosling’s and UK Sails support of this year’s regatta.

Racing for the event will be held in Raritan Bay, well east of the club in order to minimize any shore effect or marine traffic.  One design classes will have their own sailing area.  Other classes expected to compete on your course are J/105s, J/30s, and Beneteau 36.7s.  There are about 6 local 109s expected to attend from Raritan Bay clubs, so there should be a good turnout.  We will have a U.S. Sailing National Judge to preside over any protests.

Total travel time from Hell Gate is about 4 hours on a good tide.  Driving, it’s about 45 minutes from the George Washington Bridge.   We will have plenty of deep water moorings available at no cost for boats competing, and you are welcome to come early or stay late if necessary.  Depending on the number of boats attending, we may ask two boats to raft together on a single mooring.  Although there is sufficient water to get into the dock under most conditions, we strongly recommend that boats do not tie to the dock overnight due to tug wakes.

There are several hotels available at Raritan Center, just 10 minutes from the club.  The regatta committee is planning a full schedule of food and entertainment.  There are also several good, reasonably priced restaurants within walking distance of the Club.  There is a West Marine about 5 minutes away as well.
