J109s Excel at 238-mile Vineyard Race

Over Labor Day weekend, the Stamford Yacht Club (Stamford, CT) held its annual Vineyard Race, a 238-mile race from Stamford to the Buzzards Bay tower, around Block Island and back to Stamford.  Conditions were mostly off the wind and J109s ran the table in Class 9 of the PHRF division.  John Greifzu, Jr.’s Growth Spurt took 1st in Class 9 and was 1st Overall in the PHRF Fleet, winning the Dotty Lorentzen Trophy for best corrected time.  Dan Nash’s Mistral was 2nd in Class 9 and Rhiannon III, owned by Chris Nichols and Cao Deambrosio, was 3rd.
In addition, on the 143-mile Seaflower Reef course, Greg Imbruce’s Joyride was 1st in the double-handed division.
