The 2018 J/109 North American Championship hosted by Larchmont Yacht Club is now in the record books. This regatta provided a challenge for all twenty boats with winds across the four days from a drifter to a gale! David Rosow skippering Loki sailed a spectacular regatta with a score of 40 points over 10 races… and elected to skip the last race. The overwhelming performance by Loki and the crew put them 22 points ahead of the second place boat. The Loki crew did show up to be recognized for the award of the 1st place trophy.
Sailing in second place was John Greifzu, Jr. and the crew from Growth Spurt. They also captured the “Best Corinthian” trophy finishing 7 points ahead of Hamburg.
New to the class having purchased hull 204 from California this year and sailing in their first J/109 North American Championship was Partnership 3 skippered by David Tortorello. Partnership 3 finished in third place with a total of 62 points.
Finishing in fourth place was Hamburg, one of two boats from Texas that sailed in the North East this season. Hamburg was skippered by Al Goethe and finished with a total of 69 points.
Topping out the podium in fifth place was Rush with a total of 70 points and skippered by long time J/109 stalwart Bill Sweetser.
