Has anyone noticed that the 2014 North Sails Tuning guide has an error? I think the guide has mislabeled the "D1s" and "D2s". The guide states that the D1 base should be 15, while the D2 base should be 27. For me, I have always set the D1s (LOWERS/BOTTOM) to about 27 and the D2s (INTERMEDIATE) to about 15. Am I doing this correctly?

Re: North Sails Tuning Guide
I spoke with Jack Orr who is the North Sails J/109 Class OD rep. Jack confirmed that the North Guide is correct for the base settings. D1 (Lowers) will have lower setting than D2 (Intermediate) at the base settings per this guide.

Thank you, Bill.
Re: North Sails Tuning Guide
Having just re-tuned our rig I'm also questioning the validity of the North D1 and D2 numbers. I think they were reversed and the D1's (lowers) should be set at a higher tension compared to the D2's (intermediates/upper diagonal) which is not how the North tuning guide is written.
1) All of the other tuning guides have D1 higher than D2
2) The D1 turnbuckles are larger than the D2's (at least on our boat).
3) I asked our North sailmaker a while back and if I remember correctly he also said D1 should be set higher than D2. Next time I talk to him I'm going to confirm this again...

Re: North Sails Tuning Guide
After some correspondence with North Sails, it was concluded that the tuning guide settings for D1 and D2 were swapped. The updated tuning guide issued on 6 July 2018 is posted on the class website Tips & Tuning page.
