Halyard Restrainer

Has anyone ever installed a Harken Halyard Restrainer to prevent jamming of the roller furler? If so, would this be considered class legal?

I found that the backstay needs to be loose to furl and unfurl the jib or the drum does not turn easily. I have not had problems with the top furler jamming.

Are you catching the halyard and twisting it during the furl?
