Stay Sail Attachment Point

I'm looking to start using a stay sail and need advice on where to put the attachment on the deck. In looking at a 120 who has one there's is just aft of the anchor locker. I talked with the owner and he said he had glassed in a stainless rod that runs across the under deck for support. Any ideas how far back I should put the attachment.

We run it off a spectra strop connected to the bow cleats. I didn't need/want more holes in the deck.
