Re: 2004 J/109 One of the best equipped J/109’s available, motivated seller!
Nice, nice boat. If I didn't already own one I'd buy it. Good luck, it looks like it's worth every penny.
Thanks! I'm slightly biased but I agree, she's a fantastic boat at a great price and hoping she will go to a good home. I think there's a good chance she will be sold soon, just working ...

Re: Boat Storage, water question
The anchor locker leak seems odd as heck. Did you get to the bottom of that one, Mike?
There is a ground wire from the head stay bolts/nuts which eventually is glassed into a channel running through the anchor locker then under the V-berth. The top opening of this channel is often not sealed ...

Going to reply/add to my own post. Unfortunately this is not the only time I've been known to have complete conversations with myself :D

Wood finish blushing
Has anyone refinished the wood interior and had good results?
Second question, and this is sure to spark plenty of debate, what's the best thing to refinish it with? I'm guessing an indoor/outdoor polyurethane would be best like a minwax helmsman or varnish like an epifanes? Poly's are just such a ...

Re: Clear Engine Ignition Cover Replacement / Repair
The company that supplied those covers is out of business last I heard. Might be able to find some type of plastic fabricator locally to make a new one or just go to Home Depot and pick up a piece of plexiglass and make a new one. Alternatively you could you grind off the nub and maybe put a hinge ...

Re: Nut falling off Gooseneck / unsure what to do
Just so happen to be on the boat and saw your post. There should be a cotter pin through the bottom of the bolt to prevent the nut from falling off. As far as washers, mine has one at every space except where one would think it's most important, between the bottom of the boom and gooseneck. Not sure ...

Very good winch servicing video from a 109 owner
If you're anything like me you tear into the winches in an effort to get this PITA dirty project over as quickly as possible then try to figure out how they go back together without taking pictures or making notes as you took it apart. Dave is a J/109 owner and made a very nice detailed and ...

Re: Sink Sprayer
We went to Home Depot and picked up a delta faucet and replaced the whole thing. Fit right in the hole in the countertop and connected to the water lines no problem. Looks nicer than the original and way cheaper than a faucet from a marine supply store. The new faucets have been on the boat for 2 ...

Re: wheel cover, elk hide ?
I replaced mine last year, not very hard but does take quite a while and is a bit tedious. If you wet the leather it should be easier to stretch over the wheel. I figured that out a little too late, would have probably been much easier had I known that.

Re: Mainsheet cleat support post
We had the same problem recently on Junkyard Dog. There seems to be a threaded insert in each end of the SS tube that failed on our boat. There is a phillips head screw which you can only see once you pull the headliner down inside the two wood boards that form a "V". You can see the headliner you ...

Re: Jib Inhauler System
One issue I ran into was the friction rings would get caught on the eye splices for the jib sheets. Easy fix, just used a stainless steel ring instead. If you have eye splices on your jib sheets check to make sure the friction ring is big enough.

Re: Zinc Hungry J109
Not sure I can offer any brilliant solutions you haven't already thought of but just in case, have you checked your galvanic isolator to make sure it's working? We had to replace ours because the original had a fault in it. Not sure if this helps but the manual for the original isolator can be found ...

Re: Emergency Rudder?
Nothing yet, turns out the offshore race we're doing this year doesn't require it but if we do the Pac Cup next year we'll have to come up with something. I'll keep you posted!
