Re: Helm Friction Lock

I also noticed that pin and found it was just the angle of the photo. Edson informed me that the brake shoe is aft of the pedestal in the assembly between the wheel and the pedestal. I was also told that they could provide no further assistance because J Boats made the pedestal, and that I should co...

Re: Helm Friction Lock

The helm lock on #261 has been operating poorly. I worked with Edson to troubleshoot. Below are some pics of what is going on in there. Things to check: (1) is the snap ring sitting in the groove on the shaft; (2) is the two-part collar up tight against the snap ring; (3) are sprocket hub set screws...

New PXR easy to swap in on the cam cleat base. Same fasteners.

8mm NE Ropes Polytec works great.

Re: Outhaul Line Replacement - How long? Other Advice?

I replaced the outhaul on Growth Spurt this year and am happy with the result. I have 4mm spectra inside the boom for the 4:1 purchase; the spectra is then spliced to 6mm endura braid near the end of the purchase and run to base of mast and aft to one of the clutches that accepts 6mm line. You reall...

SOLD - DOYLE AP GENOA - 150% LP

For sale is a GOOD 150% Doyle genoa. Built in 2013 (approx.), it came with my boat and I used it for a handful of regattas since 2016. Great sail for weeknight racing if you prefer the overlapping jib. Will furl on J109 standard furler. Well maintained. Asking $550 + shipping. johngreifzu@gmail.com....

Re: Source for original winch handle pockets

I replaced with the shorter lewmar holders. The top screws line up. The bottom screw required a new hole. I simply put a re-sealed screw in the hole no longer in use. It's barely noticeable.
