2024 Technical Committee Requests

I respectfully ask for the new committee to undertake the following for 2025

(1) Update class rules to allow for lithium batteries providing all conditions are met in a system upgrade (i) Using the safer LiFePO4 Chemistry (ii) the overall electrical system is brought up to date to be in compliance with boat specific requirements of ABYC E-13 and earlier standards (iii) the boat has two physical batteries (both need not be Lithium), each capable of starting the engine and each wired to battery switches enabling the boat to be configured to run on either battery in combination with alternator (iv) at least one crew can demonstrate how to switch between batteries. (v) The proper electrical upgrades have been performed to charge both batteries from the alternator.

(2) Allow for two cars to be installed on the genoa track, no longer risking that non-captive balls are lost, if removing a car for one design racing.
