Re: Lithium batteries for J/109 class
I am looking to convert to Lithium batteries. Why are they not class legal? If it's due to weight can't we just add a small sandbag or other weight to the battery compartment to account for the deficit? Or as was said above if you rewire the boat to accommodate a proper lithium setup there is no ...

B&G H1000 Parts
I removed the B&G H1000 system. Two digital displays working. One of the displays has a few bad vertical lines but is quite readable.
One apparent wind direction gauge working
Mast display(s) with bracket working
A bunch of cables in good condition
All of the junction boxes

Re: Water Pump Rebuild Kit
if The bearings are good you can replace the rear pump seal with the pump installed on the engine. A piece of bend rod will help push the seal out from the back of the pump. I did mine a couple of weeks ago. Once the impeller is removed push the seal out from the back towards the front of the pump ...

Re: Outhaul boom cleat replacement
BTW if you compare the old cleat to the new one you’ll see how the line just wears through the soft Al. The new one works perfectly.

Re: Outhaul boom cleat replacement
My outhaul cleat wore out last season too. Looking for the easiest way out I replaced it with the exact same part. It was cheap and took less than ten minutes to install. The line has not slipped once since. Probably the easiest boat repair ever. Guess you can put something better but been out in ...

Re: Helm Friction Lock
I did this repair and picked up a 1" stainless shaft collar from McMaster Carr. They stock them in 303 SS for around $18 and in 316 SS for around $35. You might need to reseat the snap ring before installing the collar.

Re: LED lighting
Plus one for Marinebeam. They offer a RED GREEN replacement bulb for the Perko nav light mounted on the pulpit. I pulled the original bulb out and replaced it while comparing against the site. I did almost all of the interior lights and all the nav lights except the steaming light. Big savings in ...

Re: Winterize Head
I winterize the head once the boat is hauled out. I use a 1" ID clear plastic tube around 1 foot long. Cut the end of the tube square and flush using a new razor blade. Place a little superlube or silicone grease on the end with the clean cut, this will help the tube seal against the hull. Put the ...

Re: Ice Box lid .....
This is how our lid is supported. Works very well. The thumb latch will hold it open while sailing.

Re: Recommended Battery Replacement
Hi Dan,
I was able to fit two Firefly batteries in the stock location. I am running one regular Lifeline AGM as a reserve and two Fireflys as the house bank. The Fireflys will fit if you put them in the aft two locations. Then I changed the positive wiring to retain the 1 BOTH 2 positions. The ...

Re: Cheap Whisker Pole Setup?
Our club does a lot of JAM racing. It is hard to be competitive against genoa boats with whisker poles. Sometimes I can sail off the wind at higher angles and jybe downwind. Sailing a much longer distance but faster. It helps but is not ideal. Try and petition the RC to make JAM racing triangle ...

Hello Guys,
Getting ready to head up to J Fest from the Western Sound Area. We are running into the problem of having only one car with us at BYC. We will be 7 people needing to get back and forth from BYC to our hotel in Seekonk. Is anyone staying up that way that could give a ride to two of my ...
