Pre feeder for jib ?

Has anyone mounted a prefeeder on the jib foil? If so how, lashing? Screwed into the flat aft face?

On a friends boat the prefeeder is tied to a line attached to the stem head fitting below the furler. When extended the line positions the prefeeder about 6 inches below the entry point on the foil and the luff tape is feed through it. When the sail is fully raised, the prefeeder slips off the bottom of the luff tape and rests on the deck.
