We are going to add 12V refrigeration to our ice box and would like to know where the compressor is located in boats that have this as a factory installed item. I looked but did not see in the owner manual drawings.
Thanks for the help! Mike

Re: Refrigeration - compressor location
Mike,
On US built boats the compressor is on the port side outboard the rudder post, adjacent to the aft bulkhead of the aft cabin. There is a pedestal made that raises it about 9 inches off the hull and is level when the boat is level. Next time I'm crawling back aft, I'll see if I can snap a picture.
I believe on French built boats it is under the stove, but someone with that configuration will need to confirm.

Our boat is a US made boat and I think You have also solved a mystery to our boat as there is a new never used "OEM" 12 V electrical run to that exact location.
Many Thanks Bill - always helpful.

Interesting. What make/type of compressor fits under the stove?
Or, to ask it another way, what type of ref. unit comes on the french built boats?
