Doing maintenance up front this weekend and noticed the u-bolt fitting for the tack line block appears bent back. Anyone else have this happen or replace the fitting?

The end cap has three screws holding it in place. Anyone ever take things apart and what fitting did you use?

Speaking of the bow sprit, mine has had all the clear coat around the tack line block chipped off. I assume it is there for UV protection. Anyone know the best way to repair/re-coat?

Have not seen that problem. Anyone use a block on the tack line?

Just replaced our u-bolt in November because is was bent past 45 degrees and didn't trust it any more. The OEM type u-bolt is carried by West Marine stores (just measure the diameter of the U and get the one with legs longer than the radius of the sprit). I elected to replace it with a comparable solid machined u-bolt that our marina stocked. Had to drill out the sprit holes slightly to accomodate the new u-bolt.
Also, had sprit surface repaired by Custom Offshore in Riverside NJ 2 years ago. I believe they used Awlgrip clearcoat.

We put a kevlar patch on the sprit around the U-bolt, as the sprit was getting nicked by the block attached. We should probably put a couple of layers on, but one is doing okay for us for now.

Also, our u-bolt came "bent back" about 15-20 degrees. I assumed this was by design...
