water hose from deck to gland

Water Hose Replacement

The 1 1/2 inch groovy white flexible water hose on the starboard side cracked in four places along a seam as I added water to the port side gland.

Filling up one gland potentially trapped air and compressed the air in the other to the point of bursting? Or is it just old (10 yrs)

Can I replace this with anything, or is this special hose meant to burst to protect the water glands?

It's very difficult to twist the knobs for port & starboard water selection, they pop out if not turned very slow. Is that normal, or a sign they will soon need to be replaced? Where to find parts? What is the effort to replace them?

hi Dan,
I’m just about to start the job of replacing the water bladders, and fill an discharge hoses all the way from the fill fittings to the strainer/pressure pump. Bladders will be here Saturday. I’ll let you know how it goes and take a few pictures.

Once I got into the job I decided the deck fill hoses were fine. It was not hard to get at them though. On the Starboard side you simply pop off the plastic screw covers on the narrow ceiling liner, remove the screws and you have access to the hose clamp holding the upper end of the fill hose to the deck fitting. I did this and when I removed the hose I decided it was still good and I can go after it as needed in the future.
I did however replace both bladders and all of the blue hose and fittings to the strainer before the pressure pump. It was much easier than I expected. I will post a few pictures if you like.

The port floorboards have to be pulled up in order to pull the new blue hose to connect starboard bladder to the valve manifold on the port side. In the case of my boat (#263) there is a post and nut in the bilge to which the blue water hose was zip tied to.

New hose going through bilge. Not the stud and nut. The blue hose will be tie wrapped to the stud and the bilge pump hose will be tie wrapped to the blue hose.

Adding to the knowledge here. I'm replacing the white corrugated fill hose since it has some cracks. The hose is just under 7 feet long on both sides - deck fill to the 90 degree elbow on the bladder tank. The replacement will be Trident Reinforced PVC Tubing - 1-1/2" available from Defender.
